Pool Doctor was founded in 1974 by Paul Como in Brentwood, New York. Always a local company, Pool Doctor of Long Island found its permanent home in East Northport in the early 1980s; first at 272 Larkfield Road, and since 1989 at 315 Larkfield Road. 

The company is now run by Paul’s three children; Paul, Christi, and Michael who are life-long veterans of the industry and have a comprehensive knowledge of the technical history of the swimming pool business. As locals ourselves, we understand that a swimming pool is a major part of and investment in one’s home. A backyard often forms the backdrop for some of the meaningful experiences that a person can have in life and we take this commitment to serving our community seriously. 

As a small business, we continue to support local organizations and initiatives including the East Northport Fire Department, Little Shelter Animal Shelter, Larkfield-Northport Little League, and often sponsor local events such as the annual East Northport Festival and the local Saint Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church Feast and Festival. 

Since our founding we have built over 1000 pools, many of which have been awarded by local, regional, and national trade organizations; including the Masters of Design Award which recognizes lifetime achievements and the pioneering of new techniques for construction and design within the industry.

If you’re new to the local area and have purchased a house with an inground vinyl-lined swimming pool, there’s a good chance that we built it. In turn, we have done thousands of liner replacements and major renovations. Over the years, we continue to update our own work from the past for those who’ve remained at their residence or for those who are the new homeowners of a property they have just moved into. 

Our retail store offers full service and assistance in helping you to care for your pool with water tests, chemical sales and advice, and equipment and parts sales for those who take a more hands-on approach. We are your local warranty repair and service location for Polaris brand automatic cleaners and nearly all Hayward Pool Products/Equipment.
